dc.description.abstractThe project provides for salinity control, navigation, water supply, recreation, and fish and wildlife enhancement in Chambers and Liberty Counties, Texas. The project consists of a low dam, a navigation channel and lock, recreational areas, and the various ancillary facilities needed for operation and minor bend easings in the channel. The reduction of salt-water habitat has an adverse effect on the fishery resources in upper Trinity Bay consisting of a loss of 7,200 acres of estuarine nursery area. Construction of the project will destroy some archeological sites and subject others to inundation.en_US
