Abstract
Airborne 2.25-cm wavelength radar backscatter measurements for low-wind-speed sea conditions obtained off the coast of Texas are described and compared with measurements recorded over the Atlantic the previous year. The 2 data sets are in general agreement and show the absence of a saturation effect at this wavelength. Computerized cluster analysis indicates that a wind speed measurement accuracy of 5-7 kn is possible.
