Channel catfish virus disease (CCVD) is an acute infection of cultured fry and fingerling channel catfish. CCVD usually occurs in fish less than 4 months old. The cause of CCVD is channel catfish virus (CCV), a member of the herpesvirus group. Herpesvirus is discussed in detail. There are indications of CCVD and a generalized viremia is established within 24 h after experimental infection. The source of infection, the mode of transmission, the incubation period, the detection, the period of communicability, the susceptibility and resistance, the range, the occurrence, and the methods of control of CCV are given and discussed.en_US
