Fishery statistics compiled since 1956 by the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries are used to determine seasonal and long-term trends in the abundance of white shrimp along the northern Gulf coast. Special reference is made to that portion of the coastal stocks contributing most to this species' over-all commercial production, namely, that portion inhabiting Louisiana's marshes and offshore waters. By providing some insight into population age structure, commerical size composition data aid in hypothesizing causes of the sharp production drop in 1957.en_US
