Abstract

In 1989 World Wildlife Fund, with a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, launched a research project to explore the fundamental question of how the design and use of products could be altered to reduce the amount and toxicity of municipal solid waste. Getting at the Source: Strategies for Reducing Municipal Solid Waste lays out an evaluation framework that decision makers in both the private and public sectors can use to devise effective source reduction strategies and takes a closer look at some of those strategies.
