dc.description.abstract | The attached report was prepared for the Texas Coastal and Marine Council, at my request. [A.R. Schwartz] The purpose of this report is to point out some startling facts concerning the occurrence and potential adverse effect of oil and hazardous materials spills affecting the Texas coast. I [A.R. Schwartz] believe the facts contained in this report point out the need for effective State legislation to deal with this monumental problem of an oil oriented economy in a State under constant threat of spills from existing hazards with a certainty of greater hazards in the future. It is important to not that the supertanker oil spill off the coast of Chile in 1974 extended for 75 miles and reached three inches in thickness over its span. | en_US |
