Abstract
The present study is part of a program initiated by Dr. Wayne Ahr, assistant professor, Department of Geology, Texas A&M University, which is intended to survey effects of agricultural practices on the concentration of toxic substances in the coastal environment. Dr. Ahr analyzed sediments for DDT and DDE, and we determined lead (Pb) and arsenic (As) on these same samples. We hope that data from this small pilot project will be useful in planning a more extensive study of the fate of agriculturally derived pollutants in the marine environment.
