In a 1-yr study of ERTS-1 Multi Spectral Scanner data in the Galveston Bay, Texas, area, image interpretation techniques had limited success in detecting, identifying, and measuring areal extent of water bodies, turbidity zones, phytoplankton blooms, salt marshes, grasslands, swamps, and low wetlands. Computer-aided techniques were successful in identifying these features. The accuracy of aerial measurement of salt marshes ranged from 89% to 99%. Overall classification accuracy of all study sites was 89% for Level 1 and 75% for Level 2.en_US
