Abstract
Data compiled from records of 36 Texas coastal counties between 1940-1970 are related to future projections of growth from the present to 2000 AD. Analysis of population, industrial, employment and economic trends suggests potential changes within the coastal zone as population shifts due to decline in extractive industries and increase in secondary industries such as food processing and tertiary activities in trade service or trade areas. Recent statistics and further projections are depicted through 24 figures and 29 tables. Appendices discuss projection methodology, future studies, and the implications of superport facilities and construction of a nuclear power complex within the coastal zone.
