dc.description.abstractThis brochure was prepared by the Galveston District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide information on the causes of shore erosion and the possible solutions to shore erosion problems. It is intended for use by owners or potential purchasers of land affected by shore erosion along Texas bay and Gulf shorelines. This brochure identifies the factors involved int shore erosion; possible solutions to shore erosion; the benefits of group approaches to shore erosion; and the government permits required prior to initiation of shore protection work. For those erosion problems requiring outside engineering advice, this brochure provide appropriate background to enable the owner to select and work with the engineer. The Corps encourages the interested owner to use this brochure when planning shore protection. However, application of the information presented in this brochure is the responsibility of the owner, who bears the risks and costs inherent in shore protection work.en_US
