dc.description.abstract | This paper presents preliminary results of a two-year project to derive estimates of certain non-market ecological amenities provided by Houston's bayous. GIS data are used to analyze the relative conditions of the bayous, population distribution and density, impacts of floodplains, and socio-economics factors. An economic framework for valuing these amenities is developed and the methodologies for carrying out the estimates of economic value are described. Finally, implication for policy and potential impacts to Houston and Galveston Bay are addressed. | en_US |
