Abstract
The project involves enlargement and rectification of the natural bayou channel and diversion of flows from the upper part of the watershed through an artificial channel. This project will provide desirable improvements to the human environment by upgrading of habitability, encouragement of of productivity and economic growth, and elimination of flood damages and associated losses, health hazards, and disruption of community services and activities caused by flooding. Channel excavation will eliminate relatively small amounts of marsh land and will convert some shallow water habitat to deeper water habitat. Minor adverse impacts upon fish and wildlife resources will result from the project.
