dc.description.abstract | This draft document supplements the final environmental impact statement prepared for the 5-Year (Mid1987 to Mid-1992) Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) oil and gas leasing schedule. This document analyzes the cumulative impacts of OCS development on migratory species whose migration routes traverse more than one planning area in the Alaska and Pacific Regions. The analysis is based on the court's premise that the Secretary did not consider the effects of simultaneous inter-regional development on migratory species. It also describes and incorporates into the analysis the OCS oil and gas activities and non-OCS activities along those migration routes. The overall cumulative impacts on migratory species could be caused by oil and gas activities, oil spills, effluent discharges, noise (aircraft and vessel traffic and human disturbances), loss of habitat, subsistence and sport hunting, and natural perturbation. Coastal States which are considered in the analysis are: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California. | en_US |
