Species lists were compiled for birds that are known to occur in association with the Gulf of Mexico environment. The author includes all coastal birds and land birds known to fly over the open Gulf. The occurrence of each species is documented under the appropriate category with distributional and seasonal records, many of which refer specifically to the Galveston Bay area of Texas.
