dc.description.abstract | The objectives of this program was to assess the explosion and fire hazard associated with the crude oil offloading facility proposed for the Deep Water Port, Galveston. To this end, the project was structured into five areas of interrelating activities: 1) gather and organize data on tanker casualties of the type which could be relevant to the port, 2) from the casualty reports survey, determine the range of cargo involvement in fire and explosion casualties, 3) based on the casualty reports surveyed, postulate reasonable worst case scenarios for fire and explosion casualties, 4) based on the scenarios chosen, assess the explosion and fire damage potential, and 5) discuss the use and reliability of inert gas systems (IGS) | en_US |
