Five areas surveyed for toxic chemicals in 1979-81 were reexamined during 1987, to further characterize the occurrence of toxicants in Texas' waters and to evaluate environmental impacts. Surveillance included priority pollutant analyses of effluent, ambient water, sediment, and aquatic organism tissue samples, toxicity testing of effluent and ambient water samples, and field biosurveys of nekton and benthic macroinvertebrate communities.en
