In February 1975 a total of 3,620 questionnaires with explanatory letter were mailed to public and professional observers to determine the approximate density and distribution of bald eagles in Texas. A total of 400 bald eagle sightings were reported for the period of May, 1 1975 to August 31, 1975. This represents a reduction of 246 sightings from the 1973-74 total of 646. The 1974-75 bald eagle nest survey in the eastern portion of Texas produced 6 active nests which contained 7 young.en_US
