| dc.description.abstract | Documents contain the recommendation to construct the Dallas Floodway Extension and acquisition of lands to mitigate fish and wildlife losses caused by the Multiple-Purpose Channel. This Habitat Mitigation Report addresses only the habitat losses, habitat and monetary evaluations, and mitigation requirements associated with the Multiple-Purpose Channel to River Mile 45 of the Trinity River. The recommendation for that project consists of a 200-foot bottom width channel from the Houston Ship Channel across Trinity Bay to Double Bayou and then along the bay margin and up the Trinity River to the Port of Liberty for flood control and navigation. Acres would be needed for the disposal of 36 million cubic yards of excess dredged material. Approximately 11,700 acres of undeveloped flood plain lands and upland woods adjacent to Wallisville Lake lands is reasonable and justified to mitigate for terrestrial habitat losses caused by the Multiple-Purpose Channel. | en_US |
