dc.description.abstractThis report comprises the results of an investigation to determine the advisability of modifying the projects for the Galveston Harbor and Channel and the Houston Ship Channel, Texas, in any way at this time. The survey scope considers: (a)The advisability of providing greater depths and widths and easing bends in the Galveston and Houston Ship Channels form the Gulf of Mexico to the Houston turning basin, (b) The advisability of improving the shallow-draft navigation project in Buffalo Bayou above the Houston turning basin in the vicinity of Turkey Bend, and (c) The advisability of incorporating into the Federal project a shallow-draft navigation opening known as Five -Mile Cut, which extends from the Galveston Bay section of the Houston Ship Channel eastward through the spoil embankment into the Trinity Bay. Improvement of the Five-Mile Cut is also considered.en_US
