Taphromysis louisiana Banner has previously been reported from freshwater only. In the course of a two year study on Alligator and Oyster Lakes, located west of West Bay and Galveston, Texas, T. louisiana was collected in water ranging in salinity between 0.0 and 26.0 ppt. The presence of mature, reproducing members of this species show that these records are not accidental incursions from freshwater and that T. louisiana exists normally in the brackish water of marsh embayments.en_US
