In the Brownsville-Aransas, Port Lavaca-Galveston, and Beaumont-Port Arthur regions in 1971, this value was 37.6, 23.6 and 2.7 million dollars, respectively. These commerical shrimp landings have a significant impact on Texas economy and on the economies of the 3 coastal regions. Estimated impact of 1971 commerical shrimp landings on the Texas economy was $197.1 million in output, $56.8 million in personal incomes, and 6,083 persons employed. Within the Brownsville-Aransas region, the $47.6 million landings stimulated total economic output of $92.5 million. The $23.6 million landings within the Port Lavaca-Galveston region stimulated total economic output of $55.9 million.
