Subsequent volumes treat other groups of marine fishes. Each species is described in detail with illustrations and information on morphology, taxonomy, ecology, distribution, habitat requirements, reproduction and so on. The first 2 volumes were written by Bigelow and Schroeder, but since then numerous authors have contributed. The current editor of the series is D.
