Studies conducted over the years in Texas bays have occasionally mentioned sharks but no study based on coastwide data collection has been made. During routine sampling by Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. personnel with 184-m gill nets, 742 sharks representing 10 species were caught in the seven major bay systems of Texas from November 1975 to October 1980. Sharks accounted for less than 1% of the total catch.shark fisheriescatch statisticsbull sharkCarcharhinus leucasblacktip sharkCarcharhinus limbatusbonnetheadSphyrna tiburogeographical distributionSharks in Texas baysArticle
