The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers erosion studies concerning these areas include the National Shoreline Study (1968), a study of Galveston Island Gulf shores in 1949, a study of the west shores of Galveston Bay between Kemah and San Leon (1952- 1953), and a study of the Gulf shore of Bolivar Peninsula (1957-1958).
