There have been few emission sources within the county, which is predominately agricultural, and bordering on the Gulf, the county is usually well ventilated by the regular sea breezes. In fact, one suspects that unmonitored air pollution resulting from agricultural operations (crop spraying, burning fields, etc.) might represent a greater hazard than the emissions from industrial and motor vehicle sources that are monitored. In this case study we will (1) examine the meteorological situation that produces air stagnation, (2) interpret climatological data for situations most prone to be associated with air stagnation, and (3) investigate the one recorded violation of the Clean Air Act in Chambers County, Mt.
