Population peaks are determined. The rice belt of the Gulf Coast Prairie was especially attractive to waterfowl during the past season by reason of standing water, and rice lost through a hurricane in October, 1949. The peak population occurred in November rather than in January as in the past two years. The November, 1949, population was the highest on record for the three-year period. The goose population decline was 83% in January, 1950, as compared to January, 1949.
