GIS data are used to analyze the relative conditions of the bayous, population distribution and density, impacts of floodplains, and socio-economics factors. An economic framework for valuing these amenities is developed and the methodologies for carrying out the estimates of economic value are described. Finally, implication for policy and potential impacts to Houston and Galveston Bay are addressed.water qualityhabitatecologywatershed managementhoustonbayousinland watercoursesbayfreshwater inflowswaterborne pollutionflood protectionrecreational communityflorafaunasurface runoffeconomicgisValuing Nature in Texas: Houston's Bayous and Galveston BayBook
