This study was done to estimate the amounts and kinds of organisms captured during shrimping operations and to estimate the amounts discarded and times when most discarding occurred. P. aztecus, Callinectes sapidus, Micropogon undulatus, and Peprilus burti accounted for 67% by weight of the 115 species recorded. Most small (less than or equal to 112 mm) commercial shrimp, other invertebrates and fish were discarded at sea.Callinectes similisMicropogon undulatusPeprilus burtimarine crustaceanspenaeid shrimpbrown shrimpPenaeus aztecusshrimp fisheriesnursery groundscatch statisticscatch compositiontrawl netsOrganisms captured by the commercial shrimp fleet on the Texas brown shrimp (Penaeus aztecus Ives) grounds.Book
