Daughtery (1952) and More (1969) found that blue crabs spawn from March through September with peaks occurring during March-April and July-August. More (1969) felt that spawning could take place year-round during mild winters. Most spawning occurs in the Gulf of Mexico, but More (1969) noted that spawning has occurred in lower Galveston Bay when salinities were greater than 20 ppt.blue crabCallinectes sapiduslife historylife cyclespawningspawning seasonsmigrationshabitatLife history of the blue crab, Callinectes sapidus Rathbun, along the Texas coast.Article
