Data are being collected from most of the principal estuaries along the Texas coast, except Galveston Bay and the Rio Grande. The objectives of the investigation are to determine: (1) the occurrence, source, and distribution of nutrients: (2) current patterns, directions, and rates of movement; (3) physical, organic, and inorganic water quality and its variations; (4) the occurrence, quantity, and dispersion of land drainage entering the estuarine systems; and (5) the chemical and physical characteristics of Gulf water that enters the estuaries.
