What We Know and Don't Know About Climate Change and Climate Variability

The presentation included the latest findings by the scientific community on the understanding of global change and global warming and the impacts such changes may be expected to have on the Gulf region. The latest assessment from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was discussed, and US National Assessment, particularly as it pertains to the Galveston Bay region, was presented. In addition, the seasonal to interannual climate predictability was discussed with respect to the basis of the prediction and the reliability of the forecasts for the US. The status of recent National Academy of Sciences studies on Climate and Health and Climate Services were presented.
