Entitled "The Coastal Imperative: Developing a National Perspective for Coastal Decision-making", the conference provided a comprehensive assessment of the nature of the national interest in the coastal zone and an opportunity for discussion as to what the role of the Coastal Zone Management Act (P.L. 92-583) should be in protecting that interest.
