Buffalo Bayou and Tributaries, Texas - Addicks and Barker Dams - Environmental Assessment Dam Safety

Addicks and Barker Reservoirs in their present configuration do not meet Corps of Engineers criteria for dam safety. Under existing conditions with flows of large enough magnitude to fill the reservoirs, spillage would begin around the ends of the embankments. There is not sufficient capacity to pass the flow from the Spillway Design Flood downstream without a considerable amount of overtopping and possible failure.
