Galveston island barrier sands.

This film shows the development of Galveston Island as part of a 600-mile stretch along the Texas coastline. Longshore currents began depositing river sands along an old Pleistocene topography about 4300 years ago, and a series of parallel beach ridges were built seaward until about 300 years ago. Detailed cross-sections show the kind of sediments that were deposited to ultimately make up the backshore, dunes, beach, shoreline, and offshore areas.
