Abstract

This presentation covered the subject of shoreline erosion along the Texas coast, particularly Sargent Beach, San Luis Pass, the Galveston Seawall, Rollover Fish Pass on Bolivar Peninsula, and the shoreline of Galveston Bay. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers erosion studies concerning these areas include the National Shoreline Study (1968), a study of Galveston Island Gulf shores in 1949, a study of the west shores of Galveston Bay between Kemah and San Leon (1952- 1953), and a study of the Gulf shore of Bolivar Peninsula (1957-1958). Also, specific legislation concerning the erosion issue is discussed.
