Abstract

This study focuses on grain size analysis and characterization of the clay mineralogy from ten 8 cm Quaternary cores taken from Trinity Bay. The results suggest that Trinity Bay is a repository for fine grained sediment with smectited being a major component. Therefore, any pollutant cycling models for Trinity Bay should consider smectite due to its role in absorption and desorbtion of cations.
