Abstract
This report discusses the contaminant assessment and evaluation of the dredged material from the maintenance dredging of the Houston Ship Channel. ...There is no evidence in the pre-disposal versus the during-disposal Alexander Island Study from either water chemistry, sediment chemistry, tissue chemistry data, or organism survival that indicate an impact from the discharge of dredged material into Alexander Island and the discharge of effluent from Alexander Island. There was an increase in fines at the 100-foot station that did not translate into an increase in TOC or other organics. Based on the information provided in this report, the Subcommittee concluded that "...there are no contaminant concerns to the receiving water related to dredging and the upland confined disposal of maintenance material from the Upland Reach of the project".
