The author discusses the construction history of the project and summarizes hurricane damages since construction. Project costs are presented. He then gives a brief overview of coastal processes at Grand Isle, which hopefully contribute to an understanding of the design and whether a similar design could be used elsewhere along the coast of Louisiana. Possible future modifications of the project using stone breakwaters to protect the sand fill are described.en_US
