Abstract

Variations in circulation and salinity in Galveston Bay are studied using hydrodynamics and transport models. Some of the factors included are tides, freshwater inflows, wind, pollutant transport, and bathymetry. Galveston Bay is simulated using a three-dimensional hydrodynamic and salinity transport model. Using monthly simulations, the tide and freshwater induced circulation is studied. The predictions and field measurements coincide with each other.
