Effects of Hurricane Celia, a focus on environmental geologic problems of the Texas coastal zone.

This report is intended to extend recent studies (Hayes, 1967; Scott et al., in press; Andres, in press; McGowen, in press) of hurricane effects on the Texas coast, and it is in part the outgrowth of studies and mapping in progress by the Bureau of Economic Geology, The University of Texas at Austin, on the Environmental Geology of the Texas Coastal Zone. Continued monitoring of biologic and physical systems in the shallow-water coastal areas will provide the flow of information needed for the proper combination of coastal conservation and utilization.
