Abstract

The Regional Pre-Disaster Handbook is a first step in putting a perspective on the problems of long-term disaster recovery. Information and recommendations are presented in the areas of administration, emergency housing, temporary land needs, and flood plain management for use by communities in the development of a long-range regional disaster preparedness effort. As a first step in this process, the handbook contains a community resources section. Herein are listed data on emergency equipment, temporary housing sites, and capacities of solid waste disposal sites. An appendix also contains a model flood plain ordinance.
