Abstract
New and previously located maritime rookeries were surveyed during June and July 1976. Most of the major inland rookeries were also surveyed. Maps showing the name, number, and exact location of each major rookery in Texas are being drafted. The 1976 estimated breeding pairs of fish-eating birds are given by species and region. Project personnel banded and color-marked 16,994 nestling and juvenile fish-eating birds of 12 different species during the period May 20, 1974 to August 31, 1976. Seventy color-marked birds were sighted and of 88 bands returned, 60 were from outside Texas. Nine color- marked birds returned to their natal rookeries.
