The Texas Clipper was known as the USS Queens and then the SS Excambion before becoming the training ship for the Texas Maritime Academy at Texas A&M Galveston in 1965. Its last cruise as the training ship for the Texas Maritime Academy was in 1994. From 1994-1996 it was used as a dormitory for the Seaborne Conservation Corps. The anchor of the Texas Clipper currently sits outside the library. In November 2007 the Texas Clipper was sunk on Padre Island to become an artificial reef.en_US
