Abstract

Heavy winter rains and heavy bacteria-bearing inflow from the Trinity and San Jacinto rivers and other mainland streams have polluted the oystering areas of Galveston Bay, Trinity Bay, East Bay, and Bolivar Peninsula. Oystermen, shuckers, marine suppliers and other Texas businesses expect to suffer losses totaling millions of dollars because the 1991-92 oyster season has been a disaster.
