Abstract

Monthly coastal waterfowl inventories were flown from Sabine Pass to the Rio Grande River. The December count was not made due to adverse weather. The special game warden waterfowl survey was completed for the fourth year. Trends in migration routes inbound to the coastal range were becoming apparent but more substantiation is needed. Waterfowl populations were up greatly due to a high quality local range condition and adverse wintering conditions in northern states. The January mid-winter waterfowl inventory revealed that slightly less than half of the entire central Flyway waterfowl population was located in Texas during that period.
