Survey and Inventory of the Vertebrate Species Present in Mesquite Bay and Cedar Bayou - Fisheries Investigations in the Aransas-Copano Bay System

Abstract

The major differences between vertebrate populations in Mesquite Bay before it was opened and after this occurred is the increased abundance of high salinity forms near the bay mouth. Such as Elops saurus, Oligoplites saurus, Vomer setipinnis, Selene vomer, and Hemicaranx amblyrhynchus, not previously found, were quite common during this period of study.
