Abstract

The city of Galveston is preceeding with the final design and construction of a beach nourishment project. The project will be underconstruction in the winter of 1994 and will consists of filling a groin field along the famous Galveston Seawall. The RCPWAVE refraction and GENESIS shoreline models were utilized for the design of this project. THe GENESIS moldel was calibrated such that it simulated what had occurred based on the availabl shoreline change data. The model was then used to predict the performance of the proposed beach fill design. several alternatived were evaluated including different widths and different fill lengths.
