Abstract

This paper will use Seabrook as an example to show the direct economic value in terms of tourism and property values provided by Galveston Bay. It will describe the steps already taken as well as plans for the future. It will also describe the challenge of building an environmentally based economy while under assault by land use pressures outside the city's jurisdiction.
