Abstract

The Harris County Flood Control District (the District) announced recently that two new programs have been established with a focus on community and natural values.....The Tropical Storm Allison -Home Buyout- Post Acquisition is a program to take homes deemed substantially damaged and in partnership with FEMA, remove them, and turn the land into community assets rather than liabilities.....The District is also making available all of its lands for multi-use objectives, again to keep in line with its focus on Community and natural values. ....In this time of citizen awareness of everything from a healthy environment to prudent uses of public resources, the Harris County Flood Control District is leading the way - by being good stewards of the land, while recognizing that use of these properties for public good benefits the entire community, while always recognizing its main role of Flood Damage Reduction for Harris County Citizens.
