Abstract

The presentation will focus on Flood Control District efforts related to: Changes in design criteria for channels and detention basins to make them more suitable for multi-objective use and enhanced environmental values; Changes in maintenance practices that respect and enhance the environment; Aesthetic features that are being incorporated into designs; Watershed-wide planning that builds upon an environmental baseline report; Environmental mitigation and conservation efforts; Partnerships with recreation and park groups; and finally, tying it all together with some great project examples (all within the context of the district's mission to reduce flood damages - with proper regard for community and natural values).
